And on the same day….
February 5, 2008 by rgeaton
Two operating principles for the wise in Christ, both (amazingly) from the BCP lectionary for the Monday in the week of the Last Sunday after Epiphany:
Proverbs 27:12 Be cautious and hide when you see danger–
don’t be stupid and walk right into trouble. (CEV)
Or from the NASB, if you prefer:
27:12 A prudent man sees evil and hides himself,
The naive proceed and pay the penalty.
And then this from Philippians 2:1-13 :
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (NIV)
The Standing Committee requests your prayers for all things to bring glory to the Father, in the Name of, and pleading the Saving Blood of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Will you join us in prayer?
Prayers abound for all the faithfiul in the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin and especially for those who are still in discrenment process in this season of Lent. We are all borhters and sisters in Christ Jesus and our authority is Him who died willing and selflessly for our sins and was raised from the dead so we would have eternal life with Him. His word, the Scriptures are the written Authority. May God have mercy and pour out many blessings on all who are faithful that cling to and adhere to His word!
In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!

Nothing on the resignation letter on March 1rst yet?
Nick,
You can see the letter over at the Southern Cone San Joaquin website “Soundings”, but, otherwise, people are commenting on different blogs, and no other word that I have heard from the HOB.
